I am a researcher on forest, extreme climate events, climate change, and carbon dynamics. My research interests lie in the intersection of forest ecology and atmosphere science.

An extreme thunderstorm passed over central Amazonia on August 8 in 2019, causing a large forest gap with tree mortality

Specifically, I am interested in the impacts, drivers and mechanisms, and future predictions of forest disturbance regimes with increasing climate extremes across space and time, using multi-spectral and LiDAR remote sensing images, statistical and machine learning approaches, and earth system models. My research page has details of current and past research projects.

My ultimate research goal is to bridge basic science in climate, carbon cycle, and ecosystem dynamics and actions in nature-based climate solutions.

Beyond the academic realm, I am an avid learner and practitioner of permaculture. I take pride in cultivating a backyard garden for over three years. I cherish the way of zero-waste living and am dedicated to working towards fully embracing this sustainable path.
