Hello! I am Yanlei. Welcome to my personal page.
I am currently an environmental specialist in Department of Ecology, Washington State. I am part of the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory unit, and you can find more of our work here.
I work on multiple sectors of the statewide GHG inventory, including natural working lands, buildings, and electricity. This work is closely related to my previous research on forests, extreme climate events, climate change, and carbon dynamics, and it uses skills I developed throughout my PhD, including multispectral and LiDAR remote sensing, statistical and machine learning approaches, and earth system modeling.
I hope to apply the science in climate, carbon cycle, and ecosystem dynamics into policies and actions that reduce greenhouse gas.
Beyond the academic realm, I am a dedicated meditator and a learner and practitioner of permaculture.
